For those who desire longer hair or need more volume, hair extensions can offer fast relief. Stylist and hair extension specialist Jaime Queenin of PON International in Anaheim Hills, California added both length and volume to Tonya’s rather flat and limp mid length hair. Using Great Lengths Human Hair Extensions, she applied panels of honey blonde and caramel blonde, which are surrounded by a darker brown. The placement of these shades of blonde allows versatility depending on how the hair is styled. The nape and top of the head have the dark brown panels, giving the impression of darker hair overall.
To seamlessly create this effect, Jaime deepened Tonya’s natural color richer and warmer, then highlighted to match the panels of blonde extensions. A slice weave was done at an angle to go with the rounds of the head and give depth to the overall style. The one length extension hair is shattered around the perimeter to blend into the natural hair, then is slice cut internally to allow the blonde shades to show through. Asymmetrical razored bangs are designed to softly sweep to the side.
To style, PON International Sealant leave in conditioner then Pon Söön styling cream are applied on the hair while wet before blow-drying with a large round brush. Once the crown is about 80% dry, Jaime sprayed with Elevatë root boost for volume, then finished drying. For a soft straight look she lightly flat ironed where needed then applied Scatter FX spray wax, finishing with Da Flex to hold the bangs or fringe into place.
For a more textured look, Jaime applied Elevatë root boost on damp hair for lift, using her fingers to lightly work the product in. She scrunch dried with a diffuser allowing the natural curl to activate. Fringe volumizing spray is applied after drying for thickness and texture. Last Da Flex finishing spray holds everything neatly in place.
