Kristin
had long, chest length hair with thick, side bangs, a slight natural
wave and a dull, all one tone brown color. She wanted to keep her
length but desired a more current look.

| Steven
Villa started the transformation with the cut. He point cut the ends
so that the hair was jagged all over, including around her face. The
fringe was pieced out and sliced into by hand. Next he texturized
by cutting deep with shears, slicing through for volume all over,
specifically the crown. Cutting into the crown unlocks the shape and
allows the top to pop a bit. This gives a fresh dimension to her style
and adds movement and texture in new and unique ways. |
 |
| Her
new color is a rich chocolate brown with medium copper low lights
and light copper highlights. Over the top Steven glazed with light
red to add a hint of all-over warmth. |
 |
| To
create a sleek style, root boost was applied just at the scalp and
a lightweight styling lotion was worked in all over. Two-inch sections
were blow-dried with a round brush, lifting up slightly at the root
for added volume. A dab of shine serum was emulsified on his hands
before he ran his palms over the surface of the dry hair to control
flyaways. Soy paste was then used on his fingertips to lightly twist
pieces around her face. |
 |
| To
add even more volume, Steven misted a light working spray on large
sections and then added heat with the blow dryer while pulling upward
with a round brush. He over-directed the hair and turned the brush
several times to add rounded body all over. |
